Durangoko Azoka is one of the most successful cultural fairs in Europe, particularly for lovers of Basque culture and Basque citizens in general. This year’s events marks its 50th anniversary. We have been working on this project for a number of years and it is a real priviledge to be able to direct the communications of such a wonderful event.
We began working on the 50th anniversary in the Spring of 2015 by finalising the brand identity which was in turn, presented to the public in Autumn: DA!
The corporate identity encompasses a very short, yet meaningful name (in Basque) that doubles up as the acronym to the event. We paired the new logomark with a series of colours that are representative of each of the different aspects or zones of the festival. In addition we developed various brand touchpoints including posters, signage, a programme, book, and invitations. We also provided the creative direction and strategy for the communications campaign that included a series of video spots, radio and press ads, all based around Shakespeare’s theme of “to be or not to be” (Bada ala ez da? – in Basque). Finally, we also took wrote the press releases and communications for the press team.
